ScriptTank 17 October – Estimated Waiting Time by Mark Lindow

Next Tuesday’s ScriptTank will be hearing a new stage play by Mark Lindow: Estimated Waiting Time.

Alyssa, 45, and Lewis, 15, meet one night at the swings in the middle of their East London council estate. She’s trapped at home with her mother, who needs a minor operation to fix her incontinence, and refuses care until it happens. He’s also trapped at home with his mother having been excluded from school and is forced to wait for a place at a referral unit so he can finish GCSEs. Both trapped by the circumstance and family they form a friendship that could lead to saving one or both of them from themselves.

We’ll be meeting at 6.45pm for a 7pm start on Tuesday, 17 October. We do encourage members to arrive earlier to order food and drink from the venue before the reading begins.

There will be a £3 fee for this meeting.

ScriptTank members’ performances at the Stick Man Club

Two works by ScriptTank’s Ben Francis and Mark Lindow are being performed by two of our regular actors, Carrie Cohen and Silas Hawkins, on Thursday.

Carrie and Silas will be performing monologues from Mark and Ben at the Stick Man Club evening on Thursday, May 25.

Carrie will be performing Mark’s Tick Tock and Silas will be performing Ben’s Cornet Solo. Both were previously heard at the recent Untold Stories event at SLAM Theatre, in Kings Cross.

If you are free on Thursday evening, please go along and show your support.

The entry fee is a donation, which also gets you a beer, glass of wine or a soft drink.

There are four other works will be on show as well: Cathrine Elmerkjær performing her piece The Silence of Laughter, Claudia Roncallo performing The Tour Guide, Roisin Rae performing her work Sleeping Arrangements and Shyam Bhatt performing an excerpt from her play Treya’s Last Dance.

The performances are at the Koppel Project in Baker Street, Thursday at 7pm.

Sorry but ScriptTank’s new season is postponed

Unfortunately, ScriptTank’s spring-summer term will not be starting this week, as we originally planned.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, our new venue won’t be available.

We are hoping to start readings again later in May, with a traditional Shorts Night.

Once we are able to schedule readings, we will announce the dates.

We are sorry about the delay, but our new home will be worth the wait.

Open season

A couple of years ago, we implemented a rule requiring members to attend at least two readings in a term to qualify for a reading in the following term.

We realise that many of you have been unable to attend meetings regularly – if at all – since we lost our home at The Blue Posts.

Because of that, this attendance rule is being waived.

Any full member of ScriptTank can ask for their work to be read this term.

If you haven’t had a piece read in a while, now’s a good time to bring something in.

New members of ScriptTank still have to attend three readings before they can have a night. However, you are welcome to have works read during any Short Nights held before then.
