3 April – Sunrise by Richard Cosgrove

On Monday, 3 April, ScriptTank will be hearing Sunrise – a horror-thriller by Richard Cosgrove.

This will be the last ScriptTank reading before Easter. Readings will begin again in May.

Maggie learns that the pack of vampires who have enslaved her as a child, plan to kill her and force 11-year-old Chris to serve them. In a desperate attempt to save herself, she escapes the vampire’s home, taking Chris as a bargaining chip. As Maggie drags the recently orphaned boy across the UK in order to escape to Europe, hunted in every step by Maggie’s masters, she grows to care for the boy. But she doesn’t realise that Chris’ fate is already sealed, as is her own.

Sunrise is a disturbing and violent low-budget horror feature, set in the UK. This is new draft of a script that was heard at ScriptTank last year.

ScriptTank readings are held at the Wheatsheaf Pub, Rathbone Place, in the upstairs room.

6 October – Taste and Decency by Cliff Chapman

This week at ScriptTank Cliff Chapman things will get a bit Aykbourne and Stoppard with Taste and Decency.

Hugh and Cardamom are expecting a few people tonight, just for the post-funeral buffet alone, in honour of Hugh’s late mother, Violet. And there’s important business to sort out with Vi’s house, which would be far more pleasant over a relaxed, convivial house party atmosphere than in a barren lawyer’s room. Hugh and Cardy haven’t seen Hugh’s brother Nigel or his wife Lila for a while now. But an already awkward situation is made worse when the vicar and his wife turn up.

As emotions are buried under barbs traded. Until we find out what the vicar brought with him. And then all hell breaks loose…

The evening starts at 6:45 for a 7pm start at the Blue Posts pub, Rupert Street. The nearest tubes are Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus.

It is also with a great deal of sadness, that we have to announce this will be the last reading at the Blue Posts – ScriptTank’s home for seven years. Like many venues the Soho area, the Blue Posts is being forced to close down by property developers to make way for expensive flats.

So please do come, as we bid farewell to the Blue Posts’ staff and its landlord Michael, on the Blue Posts’ final night, as it closes the following day.

25 May – Together Forever by Ron Fernee

For ScriptTank’s next meeting on 25 May we have Ron Fernee’s stage play Together Forever – a comedy-drama with a supernatural twist.

Nick and Nancy’s future looks set. They have good careers, a happy home and a baby on the way. Then, out of the blue, Nancy’s parents turn up to stay. But it’s more complicated than that – they’re ghosts! Inadvertently, Nick has developed a smartphone app that summons ghosts, and he can’t send them back. Suddenly, Nancy’s dysfunctional past comes back to haunt her, threatening to ruin her new happiness.

The evening starts at 6:45 for a 7pm start at the Blue Posts pub, Rupert Street. The nearest tubes are Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus.

If you are interested in joining ScriptTank, please contact us. If you are a current member, please remember you will need to attend at least two readings during this spring-summer season to have a script read during the autumn/winter 2016 season.

We’re looking forward to seeing friends old and new next week.
