16 April – The Kiss by Melville Lovatt

On 16 April the final ScriptTank of the current term will be The Kiss – a new stage play by Melville Lovatt.

Melville says that in this short play, “Simon observes his wife and best friend locked in an embrace. The kiss is long, passionate and highly inappropriate. Simon is convinced they must be having an affair and plans a terrible revenge.”

The dates for ScriptTank’s next term have not been confirmed yet. When they are, they will be posted here and in our members’ newsletter.

2 April – Special Delivery by Ron Fernee

The next ScriptTank meeting will be a stage play by Ron Fernee – Special Delivery.

For 10 years, Roy has dreamt of seeing his daughter again. But, when she arrives unannounced at his door for an indefinite stay, the complications of both their lives turn the dream into something more unsettling. A story about love and longing, that’s comic, as well as menacing and sad.

Ron says this is the third draft of his play.

If you would like to attend ScriptTank and have your scripts workshopped, please read how to apply to join and get in touch. There is no joining or membership fees.

5 March – God’s Triangle by Ian D Richardson

At our next reading, we’ll be hearing a new screenplay by Ian D. Richardson – God’s Triangle. The script is based on Ian’s biography of his great aunt – a missionary in East Bengal during the First World War.

Florence ‘Florrie’ Cox was intersex but didn’t know it, having been brought up in an intensely religious family in an age when sex was a taboo topic. During the First World War, she was caught up in scandal and an Establishment cover-up after marrying missionary Reverend Frank Paice while his mistress, Olga Johnston, waited impatiently in the wings.

We hope to see you next Tuesday, to hear what promises to be a fascinating story.
