25 June – Darkness, Darkness All Conquering by Roberto Trippini

Tony Blair and Rupert Murdoch: a love for the ages?

In a change of pace for ScriptTank, this evening’s reading is the libretto from Darkness, Darkness All Conquering – a new opera by Roberto Trippini.

The opera libretto Darkness, Darkness All Conquering (not yet set to music) is a wide-ranging operatic rendering of an insane rush into a war – a tragic spiral fed by hubris, ambition, callous stupidity, and the collusion between Tony Blair and the Murdoch press.

The opera take us from 2002 Whitehall to the mayhem of post-invasion Iraq, from the petty score-settling of Westminster insiders to the rumoured secret affair between Tony Blair and Wendi Deng, Rupert Murdoch’s young wife.

The evening starts at 6:45 for 7:00 at the Blue Posts pub, Rupert Street, for this reading. The nearest tubes are Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus.
