22 May – Kissinger and Tell

Henry Kissinger portrait

Next week’s reading is Kissinger and Tell or The Day Before The Day That Satire Died, a new draft of a stage play by Jim Grover and Steve Gilmour.

Henry Kissinger arrived in the UK in 1971 for Strategic Arms Limitations Talks. The newspapers carried a full menu and list of fellow guests that joined him and the British Prime Minister for dinner.

Up until now, however, nobody has disclosed just what was discussed. The full truth, part of the most important international diplomacy since World War II, is shown here in full. Nobody will contradict me, and who are you to argue with history?

Those of a nervous disposition should be warned that there is a rather chilling dream sequence featuring a recently deceased female PM.

The reading starts at 6:45 for 7:00, above the Blue Posts pub, Rupert Street, nearest tubes Piccadilly Circus or Leicester Square.

There’s a £3 charge per session.
